It's time these Obites (people who are obese) paid for the health care system they abuse, and cover the pay of the workers who's backs they put out.

re fat control - There is a prevention programme its called self control, the treatment is known as dieting and exercise. the idea of an airport weigh in also applies to large muscular heavy people. Is it me or do all these pro - fat comments come from fat people and all the pro-fat tax from meso-ectomorphs? (cod- pseudo science thrown in - because that seems to be the norm...)

Yeah - the airplane thing is different, everyone should pay for what they use - fat thin, doesn't matter ... and while your on it, slap a big fat green tax on the price too!

You people need to get the fat removed from your brains!!!! How many of you smoke or drink or use other substances that serve no purpose other than to screw up your bodies? If you are unlucky enough to become overweight, especially in your childhood, the fatcells in your body scream just as loudly as any other addiction when deprived of their "fix" - and you can't go Cold Turkey on food (ever heard of anorexia)! Then you have the problem of metabolism rates which allow some people to eat that 3rd hamburger with no effect, while others can't even manage one without outgrowing their clothes(let alone earning your ill-informed disgust). Even the health dollar argument doesn't fly, with many overweight people remaining healthy well into their 80's (unless they succumb to the depression caused by comments like yours). If you are really so concerned about fat people, campaign for more money for prevention & treatment programs. Get real people- pick on someone your own size!!

I think you summed it up yourself in comparing being fat to "smoking, drinking and using other substances" - all of which are taxed! (apart from the other substances, but you can bet if they were legal they would be!) :)

PS - I dont actually think there should be a tax on fat people - but fatty foods should be treated in the same way (i.e. taxed) as smokes and booze

When talking 'fat' people I refer to those categorised as obese who do not manage their health and expect the state to 'fix' them while they gorge themselves. Sort your lives out !!

They are a waste of oxygen..... Perhaps we should over run a small cold country and send all the fatties there so that their blubber can keep them warm and normal people wont have to look at chaffing thighs and monster guts and arses... How about Iceland... its pretty crap their and quite expensive... It may well turn out to be the ultimate fat fighter location....

at airports - people should be weighed WITH their baggage and then charged per kilo. Eating too much is question of free will and free won't. I won't eat that 3rd burger because I don't need to. Something is fundamentally wrong when a 3rd of the world is obese and another 3rd hungry....

They should also use the x-ray machines to show people once and for all that they aren't actually big boned!

Yeah lets introduce a new fat tax! They could base it on your percentage of body fat. And make fat clothes more expensive - it takes way more material to make them.

Why not just make the doors to the hospitals narrower :)

Definately. They use the NHS more. They should also pay more for an Airline Ticket or be allowed less baggage allowance.

Any direct tax on peoples existing fat status would just be wrong.

An alternative would be to tax fatty foods; causing them to be more expensive...
... we are more likely to select the cheaper foods.

Although this would have a massive effect on the global economy, not to mention the black market for fatty foods - and your favorite chocolate bar.
