Are late term abortions (>27 weeks) wrong?

ref #282

Most doctors agree that a baby in its 3rd trimester (27/40 weeks) is viable outside a mother's womb. Is an abortion after this point infanticide?

if the bay is seriously ill inside the womb and is likely not to even make it past childbirth is it not better the end the childs life before it has the chance to bond with the mother and make it more difficult when the baby dies after words.

and what about when it endangers the mothers health, would it not be better preserve the mothers sexual health so that she can continue to reproduce than risk it all for a child that is more than likely going to die!

Surely it's worse to bring an un-wanted child into the world?

I agree completely. Conception is when a baby has it's own unique human DNA - life begins here. The fact that we allow people to kill their babies at any stage of development is a sign of a seriously depraved society.

With yes/no as the only possible answers to opinions here at humanopinion.org, I needed to pick a cutoff. And, this particular phraseology provides a very interesting conundrum. If it's not okay to kill a viable baby, what happens as that point of viability changes?

Babies will become 'viable' outside the womb earlier and earlier as we discover new advances in medicine. At some point, babies may not even need a womb at all. The truth is, it's murder to abort at any stage. If a woman can choose to not be pregnant in 2060 and medical science can allow her baby at 8 weeks gestation to continue to grow in some sort of device, then isn't it wrong to kill that child anyway?

Hi Mattmc3

Just on the note of Yes/No being the only possible type of RFO at the moment, we apologise for this :) There will be more RFO types coming online. Right now we are trying to promote the site to students and get their participation. I hope you can bear with us through this period. Thanks for the support.
