Is Google too economically powerful?

ref #272

Google shares surpassed the $500 mark on today as the search king captured 45.4 percent of the search market in the United States. Does this kind of domination stifle small business development, the Internet world seems to be becoming monopolised by the gaint. Can it get too economically powerful for the good of the Internet..

The nice thing about internet is that it has a relatively low cost of entry, allowing small firms to implement their ideas and compete on a level(ish) playing field. So no, i don't think Google will become all consuming - there will always be room for the small guy to develop niche products ...
there is also the added incentive of the potential for a big guy to come and give you lots of money too :)
