what other energy does composting consume other than free and abundant energy? ...are you talking about the energy put in by the person??

Recycling is more energy efficient than resource extraction and production processes which are required to produce new materials.

But we all know that the 3Rs Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.. there is a 5Rs as well but I cannot remember them all :(
