The UK voted with the feet and descended en masse on London (numbers varying on the source you consult) and still they did not listen to that many people saying NO. When that number of the populace take their own personal weekend time in this day and age to participate in a protest against the most signficant policy decision a government can make, the government should be held accountable.

The problem today is that that western society is too comfortable and most people do not realise the horror of conflict. A small percentage of the country's young people go to war and them and their families are directly affected, but the rest of society carries on in their cozy comforts zones while people die and countries are destoryed.

Our own social "success" is responsible for the majority of society losing touch with any real human struggle, in no way WHATSOEVER can the troubles of a rich nation's populace even begin to be equated with the suffering, destablisation and hardship that conflict creates.

Next time you worry about how much your monthly bills are, take a moment to pause and consider that in Iraq no one has stability, security or economic prospects. Further there are 1000's of men and women, both Iraqis and foreign nationals that are being used by in a tragic chess game in a world gone mad. By governments intent on imposing their own ideology on other countries.

One wonders why no one goes to the rescue of the Zimbabwian people? Perhaps it is not strategically important to do so. Rant over.
