Apostasy (from Greek ?????????, meaning a defection or revolt , from ???, apo, "away, apart", ??????, stasis, "standing") is a term generally employed to describe the formal renunciation of one's religion, especially if the motive is deemed unworthy.

From reading the wikipedia article I think Apostasy is the process of denouncing your religion - so i guess the question could be rephrased as
"In the new american/afghan constitution is the death penalty still passed for renouncing your religion"?

Yan - please correct me if i am wrong ...
