Do you think that higher education, should be available free of charge and for everybody?

ref #151

For example Germany just changed their law and will start charging students with the beginning of next term.

More money should be invested into secondary schools and primary schools before we can consider the HE.

It has to be paid for somehow and by someone. As it is the student who gets the benefit then the student should contribute towards the cost when they get into gainful employment

Yes. Education must be free education.Education is a key to success. When we provide our people with education we are preparing them for tommorrow. They need to be ready and take over from those who are dying. We are still in need of professional Doctors. Each village there must be people who knows how to operate an eyes of any patient. We need Engineer. We need nurses.Education must be taken care.It is not always about money. We have to tech our people so that they can catch a fish on their own. When eahc member of our society get better education we will work together always. You are an engineer helping me in building.I am a teacher teaching your children how to read. Our friend he is an agricultural list plough food for the village. Her son is the mechaning in the village and her doughter is an electrician for the whole town. Lets educate our people.

Depends what you mean by "should". In an ideal world, of course it should be. Would it work? Um... probably not. Sadly.

It should be available to everyone regardless of their finances ... but i think they should have to pay for it if it helps them out ... if not then its still free ...

except for the history of art people - they should always have to pay :)

I think it should be free for certain vocations, such as teaching and medicine etc, but not for the people that are quite obviously just going to uni so they dont have to join the real world and get a job (eg people studying history of art or media studies!)

I agree it should be subsidised, but the point still remains - why should someone who is poor and not going to uni (for whatever reason) pay (through their taxes) for someone to go to university.

I see the point, and I think it should definitely be some kind of loan which you only pay back if you are earning ABOVE the national average ... so if going to uni gets you a phat job & big salery then your fees have been a good investment

and of course - if you don;t get the job and uni didn't help you earn more money then you dont repay the load and nobody loses ...

Making higher educational available to everyone of at least at a very subsidising rate opens up the opportunities for the less economically well for people of a country to have a more equal access to education.

Generally you will be able to earn more money if you have been to uni - so i think it is fair enough that you should have to pay towards this.
